The ThermaPro TP-16 is one of my favorites on this list. It has all the necessary features you’ll need for accurately monitoring your food on the grill. It has an ample stainless-steel probe (6.5”) with a long cable (40”). With loaded presets, you don’t have to worry about remembering what temperature specific meats call for. Adding to this feature, you can bypass this feature and manually set your preferred temperature. The TP-16 also has a built-in timer, and at a reasonable price, it is definitely my value pick.

  • Dual Probe (8.5”)
  • 40” cable
  • 14 degree – 572 degree temperature range
  • Presets for various meats
  • Timer
  • 1 second read time
The ThermaPro TP-17 is the ThermaPro TP-16’s older and flashier brother. The TP-17 comes with a dual-probe system, which allows you to monitor the temperature of your food and the temperature of your grill or oven, or two different pieces of meat. The TP-17 also allows you to use two different presets or manual temperature settings for your two different meats. This way, if you’re grilling chicken breast and pork chops, you can have a preset for both at the same time.

The difference in cost between the TP-16 and TP-17 is because of the additional probe. One advantage the TP-17 has over other dual-probe thermometers is the fact that both probes can be used in food. Some dual probe systems have a specific probe for food and another, smaller probe for monitoring grill temperature. This is a big selling point, and if you think you’ll use the dual-probe system, this is my favorite on this list.

The Harbor Meat Thermometer is a basic thermometer. It’s the lowest in price and has the least amount of frills or amenities.
